Monday morning slug

I have 3 cats or should I say they have me. They wake me each morning around 5am, I don’t know how they know it is 5am but they are consistent. I get up and open the back slider so they can go out on the deck and explore after they breakfast. Usually it is uneventful, not today, today they brought me a gift-a large black slug. A gift for the feeder, a divine gift of love and appreciation. Yuk!

After returning it to its native habitat I decided to see what the symbolism of a slug meant. Surely it means something, everything does. Surprisingly “slug” has many different interpretations, the one that caught my eye was-

“Slugs lack a protective shell, making them vulnerable to their environment. Their presence reminds us that vulnerability is not a weakness but a strength that fosters authenticity and openness in our spiritual lives.”

This I could relate to, being our authentic selves in this overly confusing world is a huge challenge on a daily basis. Staying open takes courage and strength. So I guess I will embrace the Monday morning visitation of the Slug and move forward into my week with a new appreciation of cat gifts.
