The Dream, the Fox and the Fire Alarm.
I recently reconnected with a childhood friend who lost his wife this past autumn. He had hospice for a brief period and so our conversations began exploring the many faces of the most sacred crossing back to the place we came from. Navigating grief is a personal journey; everyone experiences it differently although there are common chords amidst the sad song of loss. Our souls are broken open as we wander through the newly open depths of ourselves. We seek understanding, we seek solace, we seek the Divine in whatever form we envision. So our conversations have meandered through the sublime and back again to the mundane.
I often share my beliefs about signs from our loved ones because I find them to be extremely powerful and healing. Dreams that are vivid and highly emotional are usually the first thing the bereaved experience and so I begin there. My friend did have a lovely dream where his Wife visited him, and he felt it was “real”. Most recently though he has been seeing a beautiful fox in the marsh by his home, the Chinese believe these animals are messengers from the Afterlife. And then today as we are conversing through the computer his fire alarm went off without cause and before he could take out the battery it stopped just as abruptly. More signs….more love from beyond…an ever flowing bridge between our worlds.
I invite you to keep your mind and heart open, because our loved ones are always sending us their love, the bonds of love are never broken, they are eternal.
